Professor David Singleton took his B.A. at Trinity College Dublin and his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge. He is a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin, where he is Head of the Centre for Language and Communication Studies. He has served as President of the Irish Association for Applied Linguistics, Secretary General of the International Association of Applied Linguistics and as President of the European Second Language Association. He has published books and articles across a wide range of topics in the areas of language learning and teaching, including syllabus design and pedagogical grammar, but in recent years his principal domains of interest have been cross-linguistic influence, the age factor in language acquisition, multilingualism and the mental lexicon.
